... people have to wait in line too, there are some real characters amongst them." "Who's this. It must be your Tess, is it?" Evelyn said. Both Drew and Dave's heads snapped around towards the highway. "Yes that is her. She has been speeding again, she isn't due for another thirty minutes at best," said Dave as he rose to his feet and started to slip on his elastic sided work boots that were near the door. Drew had to control himself. All he wanted to do was rush down the steps and hold her as she stepped for her car. Dave went down to the garden gate and waited as she drove up the gravel road. "I can see by the car she is driving that they don't have to worry about money," commented Henry quietly. "Tess is an executive in one of the big banks. She is pretty high up the ranks. No money doesn't concern them at all. And it hasn't affected them. They are both just as happy to knock about out here in the dust as they are to go to a fancy restaurant in town," said Drew. Tess pulled to a stop and opened the car door. The dog ran over and sat down near the car. Tess ruffled his ears. As she stepped out they watched as Dave went to her and embraced her. We want to live together. We sleep together. They love me and we don't care what you think of us!" But he didn't. He sat there and was torn that he couldn't take Tess in his arms just yet. As Tess and Dave climbed the steps Drew stood up. He crossed to Tess and politely kissed her cheek, "Hi, how are you? How was the drive up?" was all he could muster. "Fine Drew, but I'm so glad to be here. Now, I'm Tess," she said as she walked past Drew and extended her hand to Henry who took it and clasped it with both of his. "I'm Henry, Drew's father and this is my wife and Drew's mother Evelyn," the old man said with a twinkle in his eye. Tess turned, Henry still had her hand and didn't want to let go. "Evelyn, I'm so pleased to meet you. Andrew has told me so much about you both," Tess said in barely above a whisper. She then leaned forward and kissed Drew's mothers cheek. "I have wanted to meet the mother that has moulded this fine man, he is a credit to you both," said Tess honestly. "I can tell you and I are going to be such good friends. It's a bit of a blokes world out here, it will be nice to have a lady to chat with," Evelyn said. 'Bingo. Half the battle is won. Mum and Dad are fascinated with them,' ...
