... Drew thought, 'Dave has shown them he is a considerate gentleman and Tess has melted their hearts in the first thirty seconds. This maybe easier to explain than I have been worrying about.' Drew was nervously monitoring the conversations around him as his mother and father finished their coffees. "Well how about we get your camp set up then Dad," he suggested as soon as the empty cup hit the table. "Why don't the three of you come over for a barbecue dinner.? Nothing flash just meat and salads," Evelyn suggested. "Great idea," replied Tess, "I have bought some coleslaw and potato salad on my way through town." "And Drew has thawed steak and lamb chops out," Dave said. "Good lets get going then," Henry said. "Dave and I will have to change we can't ride the quad bike in these clothes," said Tess. Drew was slightly annoyed at the idea of spending the evening with his parents and Tess and Dave together. But he had been out voted. "I will just load up the tractor with a few things to make your camp site a bit more comfortable and then we will get going then," Drew said and stood up, "Dave can you and Tess bring the food out with you?" Next he drove across to the wood pile and put a couple of dozen split logs and some kindling into his crate. Now he was ready to lead the way out to the weir on the creek. His father followed the tractor out to the where the track crossed the creek. Luckily the water level had not risen and the four wheel drive easily negotiated the crossing unassisted. In moments Drew had parked and was watching his parents decide where to park the van, where the sun came up, where the afternoon shade would be and anything else that could prolong the task. Finally the vehicle was backed up to the mulberry tree and the engine shut down. "Is that it?" he asked as his father got out. "Yes that's good, just have to unhitch and level it up," was the answer. "Okay, while you are doing that I will just mow the grass," said Drew as he started the mower. By the time Tess and Dave arrived Drew had mowed a large rectangular block from the van to the edge of the pond and was nearly finished raking the clippings to one side. With Dave's help Drew set up the fire place on the pond shoreline and had a couple of logs burning before his father had finished being extraordinarily tedious about the leveling of his van. Camp chairs and tables were set up ...
