Then in the dress department, they had Jenny try on several dresses including a cute black dress which Mom announced was a perfect date dress for a girl her age. Jenny's face flushed red when Mom said, "You look so pretty in that dress. The boys will be lining up to be with you sweetheart." Mom continued to smile as she had Jenny model the silky dress in clear view of the other shoppers. Sally teased as the boy was boxing up the purchase. "Shhhhhh, stop it, he'll hear you. I just want to go home. Stop teasing me," Jenny begged. Mom and Sally enjoyed his predicament and giggled at Jenny's behavior. On the way out of the mall Millie complimented her. "Jenny, you seemed to have gotten used to your new nails, and your movements have improved. You're a natural at this, and your dad will be happy with your efforts. We know you wanted this deep down, and I can tell by your enthusiasm and how well you're going along with everything, that you're going to enjoy the summer. Maybe your dad was right and you need to live like us girls for a while to see what it's like. You'll learn that it's not all fun and games being a girl, but I promise that you'll learn that over the summer.
