... had felt so compelled to apologize. She had never said anything about cheerleaders, at least not to Jacqui. But Jacqui had seemed upset and Jo very much wanted to make her happy again. She was not sure why she felt that way either, but she knew she did.

The apology seemed to work because Jacqui smiled and said, "And you may not be all that 'girlie' but you are very pretty as well."

Jo blushed and smiled at Jacqui before looking down and mumbling, "Thanks."

Jacqui stayed quite for a few seconds and then said, "Jo, I thought maybe we could hang out later? Maybe go see a movie? Would you like to go to the movies tonight?"

"Who with?"

"Just us. Unless there is anyone else you'd want to invite."

"No. No, that sounds great. We can go to the movies. When do you want to go?"

"How about we meet at the theater around 7:00pm. We'll see what's playing around then?"

"Alright great. I'll see you later then."

"See you later Jo." And with that Jacqui turned and walked out of the Napoli's yard. Jo was suddenly filled with an energy she could not contain. She was kicking the ball on net, running to go get it and then throwing it out and kicking it again. She ran all over that spacious back yard for two hours.

Being on a soccer field, even a practice field or her own backyard, was where Jo always felt the strongest, the most in control. When she went out there that morning, it was to help her take her mind off some confusion. But now, she forgot about the confusion ...

... and was just looking forward to going to a movie and hanging out with Jacqui. For some reason she could not even explain to herself, the confusion was gone.

Although it was over two hours before the movie was playing, Jo began to start getting ready. She showered and shaved her legs. That was not unusual for her. However, as she did this, she decided to tidy up her pubic hair. She did not shave that off, but she did trim it down. That was something that she never did before and even as she was doing it, Jo questioned her own actions.

"Why even do this? No one is going to see it?"

"Somebody will some day and it will look more grown up if it's not all over the place. Plus, we'll know it and if not, we'll know we didn't do it."

"Do you want Jacqui to see it?"

"I'm not sure. But if she does want to see it, I don't want to be ashamed to show it to her."

This took her a while and when she finally got out of the shower, Jo was glad she had started getting ready early. She spent a lot of time thinking about what to wear. She wanted to look nice, but some kind of dress or short skirt would have been out of character for her as well as too cold.

She went with jeans and a long-sleeve tee shirt that was a little tight. She liked how it showed off her bust though. Then she had to hunt around for makeup. She never used lipstick so she went into her mother's bathroom to use some of her lipstick. When she was finally ready to leave, she went down to the kitchen.
