"Sure, sounds good. Okay with you, Pam?" John asked.

"Yeah, in an hour. I imagine you know our room?"

I got up and left, and they sat for a while in conversation before heading back to their motel room.

Returning to the office, I answered some emails, picked up their video copy, checked with the staff for issues, and looked at what apartment I would have available. I was confident Pam and John would accept my offer. Leaving from there, I drove my golf cart over and picked them up.

I lived on the opposite side of the island, a custom-built house that sat on the low bluff so I could enjoy the storms, mainly in the winter and spring, which swept across the ocean. The pounding waves splashed against my windows, an incredible sight.

"Wow," Pam said as I drove in. The entrance was a sired tunnel, opened with a fingerprint control box. The fence kept people away, extending from the house to the beach. Surveillance cameras were spaced around the property and monitored from a guard station outside.

Using my fingerprint to open the door, I invited Pam and John inside. Four floors, one under the ...

"Get you a glass of wine?" I asked.

"We're underage," John responded.

"Only adults can come on the island, and everyone is of legal age. I have some nice white wine. Are you interested?"

"Sure," John said, along with Pam.

I poured them a glass, gave them a tour of the main floor, and then sat in the living room to answer any questions.

"I know you haven't had much time to talk, but what questions might you have?"

"If we accept, how soon would you like us here, and what are your plans for our employment?" Pam asked.

"Your position will be as my administrative assistant. I want you to learn every aspect of business, so I will have you working in various positions as you learn. We will start at the resort, the crown of my investment. Front desk, maid, bellmen, kitchen, buffet, beach guides, everything until you spend a week with the manager. Then we will move to another place on the island. You will be well compensated and have offices next to mine where you will have daily study time. I have an apartment nearby and your golf carts so you can get around quickly. We will also meet several times a week to debrief. I am sure there will be more as time goes by.

I would like you to start immediately; if you need to go back and pack, I can have a moving company meet you and bring your household to your apartment. Your schedule here will be five days a ...
