... was packed, but I got the only available pinball, Full House, a vintage machine from the 60s--three bumpers at the top, four flippers, and an old-fashioned scoring system, not electronic. It was a quarter machine, which I played until it was time to eat. I hoped they would be there.

Walking down the street, I talked with guests as they went through town, shopping and spending money. Nice. I saw John and Pam standing outside the restaurant.

"Glad you could make it," I said, shaking their hands. "Let's head inside."

"Thanks for the invite," Pam responded.

I told the host to collect the money at the front for the all-you-can-eat buffet and put it on my tab." She laughed as our server took us to a table, telling us to help ourselves.

We fixed our plates, got our beverages, and sat down.

"So you guys are not married," I stated.

    "One day," Pam said.

"My staff did a background check so that you know. My security team gets worried when I wander off," I laughed. "You graduated top of your class not only in high school but did running start and the first high school student to be top there. What are your plans?"

"Our hope is a Ph.D. in business," John said.

"Money is the major problem," Pam kicked in. "Our AA was free through the running start; now we have to borrow to make it happen."

Setting my fork down on my plate, I looked at them and said, "That's too bad. I know upper education, unfortunately, is expensive. I also know you are not working right ...
... now; this trip was a graduation gift from Pam's parents."

"You know a lot," Pam said.

"Well, it could be a good thing for you. I happen to be hiring and have jobs for both of you. As for college, most schools have online education available. I would happily pay for your continued education, BA, MBA, and Ph.D."

"Mark, it sounds like a dream. What's the catch?" John asked.

"There is one. At the end of your degree program, when you have the Ph.D., you will commit to working for me for ten years. At the end of which, you can do something else or continue with me. If you end your employment before ten years, you owe me the cost of the education plus 25%. I think it is a win for both of us, and this island is only the beginning of what I have planned."

"Can we think about it? It is such a good deal, but we need to think it over." Pam stated.

"No problem. Though let we say this, I learned from this statement 'The opportunity of a lifetime is only good for the lifetime of the opportunity'. I would not wait long. From what I learned about you two, you are smart and go-getters. I want you on my team. But I also know that when people overthink something, I have been known to pass on talent. Mine is a great offer that includes free education, a salaried position, free housing here, which I don't offer to everyone, most pay for their apartment, and an opportunity to grow as part of my team, to recap. Any questions?"

    "No, we understand," John said.

    "Great, I would ...
