... have a lot of money. Could we go somewhere else?" She snapped back curtly.
"It's okay Daisy. I'll pay. I just want to talk. This isn't a set up. Nobody knows I'm here."
"Then why. Are you here on some twisted revenge gig?"
"No."
She stood with her arms wrapped tightly over her breasts, her eyes fixed on me defiantly. "For your information. We are about to lose the farm."
I winced, as the words dribbled painfully from her mouth. "I'm genuinely sorry to hear that."
"Not your fault." She sighed.
The Olive garden wasn't overly busy. We were shown to a table right away. I ordered wine for us both.
"What do you really want, Sasha? I tried to say I was sorry."
"I understand that Daisy. I'm not looking for anything other than a chance to talk to you."
"To me... Why?"
"Yes, look sorry. This is hard for me. God, I don't know why I'm here myself." I mumbled.
The waiter arrived with our wine, and I took a large gulp to try and settle my fibrous frayed nerves.
"Daisy, this is going to sound insane, but when you held me hostage. I developed feelings."
Her eyes bugged, almost comic book crazy. "Feelings, she repeated hesitantly.
"Yes, feelings...For you. I have built up this crazy thing in my head that is insane, but I can't shake. I have been trying to fight off this crazy romantic attachment I have with you."
"Romantic..."
"Yes, if I was fifteen years younger, I'd say I have an enormous crush on you."
"Oh god. Jesus... ...
... Really?"
"I'm sorry, you clearly don't know what I'm talking about."
She sank her glass of wine in one huge gulping mouthful. She waved her glass frantically at the waiter. He wandered over, refilling both our glasses. With another large mouthful down she stared at me, and for the love of me. I couldn't untangle the mess of messages fluttering through her eyes.
"Sasha, it's not crazy. I thought I was the crazy one. I was so attracted to you. I had to physically stop myself from kissing you. I yearned for a kiss, a touch, a sign. Anything really. I thought it was me."
"Jesus." I mumbled incoherently. "You felt something?"
She nodded, swallowed a lump that wasn't there replying. "I'm a lesbian."
"Fuck." I spluttered, wine going everywhere.
"Are you okay?" She asked, dabbing my sprayed wine from around the table.
"You're gay?"
"Yes." She said with a nod. "My whole life."
"And you're attracted to me?"
"Very much." Our food turned up, and we ate like starving animals. Neither keen to look up from our plates. There were however sneaked glances, and every time I caught her eye. She blushed, That in turn brought about my own guilty flush.
I had to ask myself. "What in gods name are you doing?
"Sasha, why are you here? You're married. You have a husband."
"Not for much longer. I've started divorce proceedings. While I was with you, I discovered what a totally narcissistic asshole he really was. When I got back he tried to steal money from me. I honestly ...
