... for word? You got to read my answers?" I suddenly developed a painful sinking feeling in my stomach.

"You didn't read mine?" She was genuinely surprised by my answer.

"No." I pulled out my phone and opened the app.

"Off to the right, near the top. Tap that tab."

There they were, her answers. I hadn't noticed the tab at all. I never went back to questions I had already answered. We had answered every true/false question identically. I started scrolling through the answers and saw they were really similar between us.

"Put that away!" April hissed. "Not here, not now. You're on a date, act like it."

"Whoa, girl. Calm down." I put my phone back in my shirt pocket.

She gave me another glare. "That's better."

I went back to looking at the menu. April peeked over the top of her menu every so often to make sure I was behaving. When the waiter returned, we ordered.

April nursed her second glass through the actual dinner. I wanted alcohol too but I was driving and I wasn't going to leave my car downtown overnight. I stuck with tea.

We talked through dinner but not about the app or our answers. I still had that unsettled feeling in my stomach but I managed to enjoy the meal and April's company. A number of couples left while we ate, many of them looked to have had a good time.

"That was nice." We walked slowly back to the car. As I unlocked and opened the passenger door for her, an older couple passed us and the lady smiled and gave me a thumbs up sign.

April was still giggling about it when I got behind the wheel. "The old lady seal of approval. Ain't that something?"

"Made her night. Hope it makes his." At least he had a chance of getting laid.

"Can we go back to your place? I don't want to go home until we get our stories straight." April adjusted the hem of her dress carefully. I hadn't noticed her legs much but the sandals she wore and the dress highlighted them nicely.

"Yeah, we can do that." She looked thoughtful on the way back to my apartment. She held onto my arm going up the stairs and while I unlocked the door.

I swung it open and she entered first. Dropping her little bag on the couch, she made a beeline for the bathroom. "Ladies first." I wasn't surprised, three large glasses of wine and at least one large glass of water was a lot of fluid. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to dig a water bottle out of the trash when she came back to the living room.

After I emptied my bladder and tried to calm my nerves, I went back to the living room. She was seated on the couch, sandals off and legs tucked under her. She patted the cushion next to her.

"Have a seat." She picked up one of the many pillows my mother had insisted were necessary and hugged it to her.
