... skin, which seemed fine in the shade of the large green umbrella. “Ma'am?” Haden jerked around. Each call of 'Ma'am' had been slightly closer than the last. She expected to see the pool guy from next door. Maybe he'd come to tell her he was sorry, to ask forgiveness for being so rude. Instead, about ten feet away was a stranger. He was in shorts and a dingy, dirt stained t-shirt with some sort of corporate logo on it. Around his waist was a brown workman's belt, filled with tools of various types. In his hand was a clipboard. Haden let out a sigh. She was glad the dreams she'd had were receding and that the pool guy from next door wasn't here. A glance at her drink told her that she'd been asl**p long enough for all of the ice to melt. “Can I help you?” “I'm sorry to bother you,” he said with a strange accent that Haden couldn't place. “I tried knocking, but I saw a car in the drive so I thought you might be out back.” “It's alright. What can I do for you?” There was something familiar about him. It was itching at the back of her mind. “Your husband? Mr. Thorne? I'm with the contractor. About the deck and the hot tub. I'm just here to check some things with your gas lines. I need to get under your house.” It took Haden a minute to absorb all of that. Yes, Andrew had said he was going to proceed with getting the hot tub put in, she remembered. She blinked a few times. “Um. Yes, of course. Sure. What do you need from me?” Haden rose and realized she was just wearing her ...
... bikini. She felt exposed and off balance. “Just your signature here,” he extended his clipboard out to her. “It shouldn't take more than a half hour or so. I probably won't need to go inside.” She took the clipboard and glanced briefly at the paperwork, which seemed harmless enough. Haden was just about to the sign when it hit her. “Sayid!” She said with a grin. “I'm sorry?” The man looked confused. “Oh, I'm sorry. You reminded me of someone and I was having trouble placing it. Has anyone ever told you that you are the spitting image of that actor on Lost? The guy from Iraq. Sayid.” Understanding dawned on the man's face. “Ah. Yes. I have gotten that before.” “I just happened to have watched a re-run last night and it's uncanny how much you look like him. Any relation?” He shrugged. “Not that I am aware of.” She signed and he took the clipboard back. “Sorry to bother you. Like I said, I should be done in about a half hour.” He turned to go and she watched him. His long shiny black hair was moist with sweat. She found herself staring at his ass as he headed toward the house. He was lean and toned, but not especially big, much like the actor from Lost. Not wanting to get caught staring, she pretended to go back to her book. But between the dreams she'd been experiencing and having a stranger floating around her backyard while she was in a fairly revealing bikini, Haden couldn't get through even a paragraph. Finally, she got up and went inside to make herself a fresh gin and tonic. ...
