... magnificent building up. It will be the landmark that Jules wants. Ah, speaking of Jules, here he comes."

"Hey, guys," Jules salutes then with his familiar, discreet wave. "Talking about me, aren't you?"

"Yup," Karl says. "Look at this."

Jules approaches the table, and, after giving the sheet a quick look, bends down and studies the various renderings of the structure and the detailed drawings of each of the huge, complex beams — the main beams of the skeleton.

"Those beams can be made?" he asks Karl.

"Yes," replies Karl. "SBQ says they've already made very large span beams. I have the pictures in that file — although our beams are different, bigger, and far more complex. But they insist they can make them. We will compare our calculations to make sure." He turns to Mat and says, "Pull that blue section, please."

Mat retrieves what Karl asked for and gives it to him. Karl opens it and gets a bunch of pictures showing the beams being made, loaded on a very long flatbed truck, and installed on site in Northern New York.

Jules and Mat are completely absorbed by what they see. Karl stands with his arms crossed and smiles.

"That's amazing, Karl," Jules says, enthusiastically. "Okay, we go for that. The sketches you two are proposing are exactly what I have in mind. I think we will need a demo of their capabilities. Can it be arranged?"

"I'll give them a call," Karl answers. "I'm quite sure they will agree. I suggest a tour of their facilities. I think ...
... Mat should accompany you or me so he can have a good look at their computer design technology."

Jules tells them that the two of them will be going. His schedule is full, and he must prepare for his trip to England. Karl will be in charge when he's away.

"You have carte blanche, Karl. Mat, before you start the detailed drawings, wait until we are convinced that they can do the work. I want the structure to be made of sugar maple wood. We will also need to understand their manufacturing process. Karl, you sign a non-disclosure if they want to go that way. Our design is also proprietary information. They will not be allowed to copy our designs."

Jules looks at both of them with pride. Smiling, he taps Mat's shoulder.

"Okay, guys. Great work. How long before you have all that nitty-gritty stuff done, Mat?"

"You mean the detailed design of all the structural pieces and all the nomenclature?"

    Jules nods.

"I'd say four to six weeks with the help of Chloé, following the visit to their plant. Karl's input will be critical. I'll need a lot of details. That's the most complex structure I've ever seen."

"Don't worry," Karl reassures Mat. "I'll support you all the way through the process."

After Jules' departure, Karl calls his contact at SBQ, and a meeting is set for Thursday. Then, they go through the files to make sure Mat understands how the unique structure is going to work. At 7 p.m., they call it quits.

"Let's go to Rosa's," Mat says while making sure ...
