... have asked for sure. I'm sorry, please forgive me fam. You do so much and I just take and take and take. I'm a bad friend. I'm so, so sorry."

She tucked her head down next to my cheek and I could feel that her own face was wet with tears.

"Oh God, Nade, I'm so sorry."

"Stop it Priya! Stop! Stop apologising! For real!" She leaned back, so that I could see her tear stained face as she shook my shoulders. "You've nothing to apologise for. Trust!"

We lay there in silence for a moment, her eyes searching for my face. Maybe she hadn't realised what had happened yet, but surely she would see the damp patch in my jeans or smell me at least.

"Bloody hell babe, somebody totes did a number on you, didn't they?"

"What d'you mean?" My voice sounded shaky and pathetic.

"I mean... where did all this shame you carry come from?"

    "It's.... I'm... disgusting," I squeaked out.

"Stop it, stop it, stop it. You are not. For real. There is nothing disgusting about you Priya!" she sounded angry now. "You're gorgeous, you're beautiful and Kate will be lucky to have you. And look, maybe we should have said something before, but, babe, weknow. Weknow how music makes you feel. Weknow how the cello affects you. And it's ok fam. It's really nothing to be ashamed of."

"But I ruined the take and..."

"Er, no, you didn't! That was amazing....Like, seriously. But I won't use it if you don't want me to... but anyway stop changing the ...
... subject, Priya!" She took my face in her hands and forced me to look at her, "weknow. We don't care. We love you anyway fam. You're amazing." She sighed. "D'you want to talk about it? I think you should. Trust. Try," she stroked me, "will you try for me?"

And so, through my tears and sobs, I told her. Aboutthat cello lesson and Ms Foxen's horrified reaction and how my anxiety about that bled into all forms of performing. And she held me and soothed me and was infinitely patient and she was still my friend. And slowly, so slowly I felt my shame sliding back. I wasn't fixed, but I was starting to think that maybe I could be.

"Thank you Nadine. Youare a good friend." I sniffed as we finally sat up. "Now get back in the booth."

    "What?"

"I need to do another take. I should be ok for a bit now."

"Oh, Priya fam, you don't need to..."

"No, let me. Besides, didn't you also want me to add cello to "Talk to me"?"

    "Well, only if you're sure."

    "Yeah come on."

So she went out. Ali switched the mics back on. I did two more takes on "Morning" and then added some cello to a couple of other tracks. It was pretty late. Thank goodness I'd booked tomorrow off.

    Suddenly, I remembered something.

"Wait! Hold on! What do you mean Kate would be lucky to have me!?"
