... at the complicated hedge fund account on her computer screen, her mind racing. The numbers just weren't adding up, and she couldn't understand why. Her thoughts wandered to Jim, the one person who might be able to help her make sense of it all.
"Come on, Susan," she chided herself internally. "Focus! This isn't the time to daydream about him." But despite her best efforts, her mind stubbornly returned to the image of Jim's furrowed brow, his strong hands as they had helped her before. She knew she would have to ask for his assistance again, but the thought of facing him in his current state made her heart ache.
Her eyes were fixed on the screen, but her mind couldn't stop replaying the events of a few days ago with Jim. The memory was like a forbidden movie, playing in vivid detail behind her eyelids. She could still feel his touch, the heat of his breath on her skin, and the sound of his whispered moans that sent shivers down her spine. The numbers on the screen swam together as she struggled to focus on anything but the intense desire she still felt for him.

She swallowed hard, hating herself for the thought that followed: "Maybe if their marriage crumbles, then I could be with Jim."
The guilt weighed heavily on her, but she couldn't deny the longing in her heart. Every time she looked into Jim's haunted eyes, she felt an overwhelming desire to comfort him, to show him that he deserved happiness and love.
"Get a grip, Susan," she chastised herself, shaking her head as if to dispel the inappropriate thoughts. "He's your coworker, and he's going through hell right now. The last thing he needs is you complicating things even more."
But deep down, beneath the layers of guilt and uncertainty, a small, stubborn part of her continued to hope. She couldn't shake off the memory of their brief but intense connection, and the thought of him with his wife ate away at her. She wanted to reach out to him, offer him a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen, but she didn't know how without crossing any boundaries.
"Alright, Jim," Danny said, leaning back in ...
