... trunk, a rust covered revolver on the ground beside her. "She stayed."

Daryl nodded. "Yeah. Shit. That's so sad." She pointed at a frayed hole in Clara's bib. "Looks like she got dressed in her old nurse's uniform, came here to be with Harry, then just stopped her broken heart."

Vicky hesitantly reached out and touched the poor woman's cheek. "I'm so sorry for you, Clara. But I'm glad we found you. You must have been so lonely."

A ripple of depression rolled over the two, followed by a small wave of joy.

"I think she's happy we, well, you in particular, came here." Daryl sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Shit, this is so hard. We're going to have to call the police."

    "No, we don't. Do we?"

"Yeah, we do. That was made very clear to us early in the course." Daryl stood up and looked around. "They'll never find her without help. I'll drop a waypoint on my phone, and let's go back to camp. I suspect we'll have to wait a while, so we may as well be comfortable."

"Ok. Don't take any photos of her, please."

"No, no I won't. I'll take a couple of Harry's grave though." Daryl took her shots and packed the drone away. "We'll see you, umm, catch you back at our camp, Clara."

"This is nice. I hope Clara's happy here," Vicky said, and chuckled as Daryl tugged at her skirt. "I'm surprised you're not wearing pants."

"It's a special occasion. It's not often you lay a friend to rest ninety years after they've died." She inhaled deeply, letting the unique ...
... eucalyptus forest smell linger. "I'm glad the RSL and the Army agreed to pay for her burial here. Emerald is much nicer than Euston."

"Mmm, yeah. Small consolation for the trauma she went through. What was it in her diary? Towering gums dripping raindrops, the smell of wet earthy freshness, the screech of cockatoos... I hope she's ok and gone to wherever happier than she was."

"So do I. Can't say for sure, but it did feel like she was excited that she was leaving, and knowing the Robinvale RSL would look after Harry, now they know where he is."

"I can't believe you two cuddled with a ghost. That's still pretty freaky. I just can't wrap my brain around it," Jo said.

"It was strange," Vicky admitted, "Particularly the last night we were there. Clara was getting quite playful."

Daryl nodded, "Yeah, once we said we would insist she was buried back in Melbourne, it was like she was a whole new person." She pressed her cheek where Clara had kissed her hard. "Unbelievable, but I'm glad it all turned out ok."

"Particularly for you. A High Distinction is pretty good," Jo said.

"Yeah, well. It was a fair chunk of fiction though. I couldn't really write everything that happened. No one would believe me."

"Yep. If I wasn't there, I'd be calling bullshit too. Anyway guys, let's go to the pub and have a drink to Clara and Harry. She may like rain dripping off trees, but I'm not a fan," Vick said and headed back to their car. She squinted and slowly turned her head, ...
