... hip with mine. "You're just sayinthat because you got me to pay for your own manicure, brat."

"Maybe," she said with a grin.

"Really though Julie, thanks a lot for your help. You made this night special for both of us," I said.

"Aww, thanks! Looks like my dumb big brother is finally getting some smarts! That's good, because being married to a lawyer would be tough if you didn't!"

I poked her in the ribs, causing her to squeal and move away from me. She walked back up to Carly, who was now surrounded by a gaggle of women from her office.

"Let the wedding planning begin!!" Julie yelled as she caught Carly's eye. I laughed and continued to take in the scene. I was really getting married. A year ago, I would have never imagined my life being what it was at that moment, and here I was, watching it all happen and looking forward to a future with my wife.

"Jason..." Carly said quietly. We were back in the limo, and the driver was taking us to a swanky hotel I'd booked for tonight. She sat in my lap and covered me in kisses. "I love you so much," she breathed.

"I love you, Carly Sims. I always will." She cuddled into me deeper. After a moment, she moved her left arm from around me and held her hand up in front of us, looking at her ring.

"Is it ok? If you don't like it, we can exchange it for another style. I kind of had to guess on it..."

She cut me off. "No, Jason... it's absolutely perfect. I love it so much! How'd you guess the size?"

    I told her ...
... about digging through her jewelry box and finding one of her rings, and she chuckled.

"Not bad," she said, with a satisfied smile.

"Remember that day you walked in and I slammed my laptop shut so you wouldn't see what was on it? It was because I was looking at rings, trying to pick the right one out," I said.

Her eyes went wider. "I do remember that! I'm glad I didn't ruin the surprise... although it did cross my mind that's what you might have been looking at. Or, at least I'd hoped," she said.

We sat in contented silence for a while as the limo continued down the highway.

"Jason, I'm so glad I wasn't getting my hopes up for nothing."

"What do you mean?" I asked her, looking at her face.

"I mean... I knew I wanted to marry you the first time I told you I loved you. When we moved in together, my hopes got just a little higher. Tonight, with you, and this limo, and this dress... and when I saw that we were at the restaurant where we went on our first date, I was really hoping that this was the night you'd ask me to be your wife," she said, leaning up against me again.

"Babe... nothing in this world makes me more happy and proud than knowing for sure that I get to be your husband. I've wanted it for a long time too!" I leaned down and kissed her on top of the head, and I heard her sigh.

The limo pulled up to the front of the hotel and the door opened. We stepped out and were greeted by a concierge holding two champagne flutes.

    "Good evening, and ...
