Sigrid shook her head. "No, everything has been pretty consistent. My periods are regular, maybe a day or two off occasionally, and I haven't experienced any major side effects."

"Good to hear," Dr. Johansen said with a reassuring smile. "When you're ready to stop taking the pill, I recommend finishing your current pack and then allowing your body to naturally transition back to its normal menstrual cycle. It's also a good idea to start taking prenatal vitamins with folic acid to ensure you're getting the nutrients you need for a healthy pregnancy."

Sigrid listened attentively. "That makes sense. When would you recommend, I stop?"

Dr. Johansen explained, "It varies for each woman, but generally, stopping three months before you want to start trying is a good guideline. This gives your body some time to regulate its menstrual cycle, making it easier to pinpoint your most fertile days."

He felt a sense of happiness having watched her journey from little girl to young woman about to embark starting her own family. That evening as she stood in her bathroom, Sigrid gazed at her packet of birth control pills lying on the shelf. She pondered them for a minute, realizing the implications for her when she stopped taking them. She tapped on the packet with her finger for a moment, her mind lost in thought. Suddenly she heard footsteps approaching and she swung around to see Magnus open the door. "Hey Sigi, are you still using the bathroom? I was just going to take a quick shower," he told her.

She smiled. "No, I'm done; it's all yours."

Magnus gave her a quick peck on the cheek as he moved to the shower, turning on the water and starting to strip off his workwear. Although his job in the shipyard was mainly desk-based, he often found himself climbing all over the hulls of vessels and rigs. Sigrid had given up reminding him to leave his work boots in the front hall, instead of kicking them off in the kitchen.

"Don't forget to put your clothes in the basket, not on the floor of the bathroom..." Sigrid reminded him as she left Magnus to undress and have his shower. She gave him a faint smile as she left and he called out to say that he'd left his boots in the front hall this time.
