I fired three more silent rounds, shattering the windshields on each truck and sending a powerful warning.

The three were all in severe pain, especially dumbass Mathew, but they scrambled to their trucks and drove off like wild men.

I sent a group text; "Thanks for the support, men. We made the point. I warned Mathew that he should leave town and that he was safe until next Saturday. After that, you boys can have him. I don't want to know anything. I never expect to see him in this neighborhood again. Thanks again. Erase this string, please."

I called Elaine.

"Hello,"

Mathew and some other men were coming after Alfonso. What happened?

As I went inside, my heart was beating wildly. I was not sure what was going on. Alfonso seemed calm and in control, a heck of a lot more than I was.

"Elaine, are you OK," Alfonso asked me.

"No, I'm not; what the hell just happened?"

I went to him and held him. I always knew I would be back in his arms, but when I left Al yesterday, I could see he was not sure I would be returning.
