... washing down and making the skin seem like it was gleaming under the morning sun.
However, it was over too soon, her Grandmom walked to the edge of the lake and onto the land, looking across at the teen, "Ready? I'll just get dressed and we'll be off."
The horse was well rested and fed after its evening exertions, though, disappointingly, to not tire it further her Grandmom walked leading it, whilst Aina rode on her own. They stopped several times, to make sure it wasn't overtaxed, her Grandmom showing her which berries were safe to eat and on one of the brief sojourns, taking her bow and shooting a couple of rabbits, which she swiftly strung together and tied to the horse's pack.
They continued through the day, Aina asking all about her Grandmom and her past adventures, as well as the Amazon lands, she had left as a small child. She found herself talking about herself as well, how she had never fitted well with her contemporaries and their ambitions to find a brave hero to marry and that she had always been looking for her heroine instead. The room was otherwise almost bare, a few stones jutting out of the wall and if there had been a floor it had long since vanished and instead, there was a bed of moss and leaves. It was surprisingly comfortable and Aina sat down on it as her Grandmom brought some bricks to act as base for a fire, before adding sticks, logs and dry grass and lighting it. The flames danced, lighting up the building and soon it was surprisingly warm and comfortable. Aina felt able to remove her cloak and sit just in her silks, whilst she had regretted not finding an old ...
