They silently stood. Mom led Jerry, now being addressed as Jenny, by the hand upstairs to her bedroom, with Sally a few steps behind. Inside mom's room, Jenny sat on the bed next to Sally with a scared look on her face.

"Do I really have to do this, Mom? I mean, is dad serious?"

"I'm afraid his is, baby. Look, I'll speak with him, but until he changes his mind, we need to do as he says. It won't kill you, and we all know deep down you will enjoy some of this. So, let's get you something to wear for bed, and I suggest you stay out of dad's way tonight and move your clothes to the basement as he instructed you earlier."

Mom jumped in and said, "Sally, this is not your fault. It's my fault for not telling your father. Now, we need to do what he said," she said, handing Jenny one of her floral pink nightgowns. She looked at the children, tried to act as if everything was normal, and spoke.

"We need to get an early start. I want to leave by 9 a.m. and get to the nail salon when they open. If they have room, we can all get a mani-pedi, but Jenny will be leaving with a full set of nails before 10 a.m., when the mall opens. Jenny, I'll lay out something for you to wear and get you ready. So be up and finish breakfast by 8 a.m. We'll need an hour to make Jenny presentable for tomorrow. Wear some comfortable shoes because we will have a very busy day tomorrow. Now, I suggest you go to your room and stay out of dad's way for the rest of the night."

Sally followed Jenny out of the room and into Jenny's bedroom. She sat on the bed as Jenny fell into the chair.

With his hands covering his eyes he cried, "What am I going to do, Sally?"

"Well, it looks like you're going to become one of us for the summer. Don't worry, Mom and I will make sure you're safe. We'll teach you everything you need to know and how to act around dad. But you will need to pay attention and do as we say otherwise it could get bad for you.
