At about 10pm Kara offered to show us to our room - it seemed a strange offer given Danielle must have known exactly where it was - but we accepted and she showed us down to the basement "guest room". It was more like an entire apartment including a ensuite double bedroom, kitchenette and living area with sofa and TV. "This is amazing Kara" I said as I walked over to the ensuite, peering in to see a free standing roll top bath and separate shower. "thanks so much for putting us up."

"My pleasure." Kara responded in a strange tone.

I turned around to see Kara standing on front of the door we had walked through, pushing it fully closed behind her back. I knew instantly what this meant. So did Danielle.

The three of us looked at each other for a few moments, as if to check that the others were on the same wavelength.
