By the time the Rodeo was over, people were already calling it a triumph and asking about next year's show and even if we would hold another this year. The producer from OKTV was almost insistent. It was not something I wanted to think about as I was enjoying having my own life back and thinking about the future of the ranch. Maureen was busy trying to work out how we could expand things to accommodate a whole load of new business we had drummed up and I helped with that. As a thank you, and an opportunity for some more gentle persuasion, OKTV took us all out for dinner. We got them to take us to the Italian of course, and they quickly got to business and told us they wanted to do a regular weekly show up at the ranch called "Country Ranch" where they would follow us, the horses and all sorts of seasonal nature events. We agreed in principle, but I wanted Ronnie to check over the details to make sure it was a good deal.

As you can imagine it was all a lot to take in and two days later Mom, Maureen, Eileen and I went back to the Italian and rented their private room, just like OKTV had done. ... upscaling it was going to be hard and require investment and time. It would change the ranch, and not necessarily for the better. By the end of the meal, instead of being excited and full of energy, we were all a bit deflated and concerned about where things were heading.

Meanwhile Karen had started filming her new series and I was already missing her dreadfully, but that was balanced by the fact that I never had a moment to myself, even at night Eileen was keen to be in bed with me. Everyone seemed to need a bit of me and there was only so much to go around. To be fair to Eileen, she had noticed that I was on the edge of a breakdown and understood. She selflessly told me to take time out and invite Karen up to stay at the ranch as soon as she was free. I did and felt so much better that I would see her in a couple of days.

The next day I took Ronnie out for his regular ride and he could not stop talking about the Rodeo and how good it was. I told him about the TV show, the extra business, and that we were all really nervous about it and not even sure if it was what we wanted. When we got back to the stable he asked me if I was free that evening and whether I could have dinner with him at the Belle Epoque restaurant. I could not deny him that so I hugged him and agreed at once. He told me that a car would pick me up at seven. Maureen was a bit shocked when I told her.
