... all of Heather's work. I wanted to own one of her originals so I purchased a small rose painting that wouldn't break my budget. She was so pleased with my selection, hugged me and thanked me several times, and squeezed my hand again. Still holding my hand, she led me to the print stand containing her top sellers and invited me to pick one, she wanted me to have it as a gift to celebrate our new friendship. I was so thrilled to hear her say that! I was now more certain she was interested in me. I selected a gorgeous iris bouquet and she wrote "no charge" on the price label and initialed it, asking me to tell the cashier it was a gift from her. I was so excited, so happy she thought so much of me to gift me a piece of her art. She said before I left on Sunday, she wanted to do a special dedication on the back of both pieces. She said this was her treat and wanted me to order whatever I wanted, the gallery budget could definitely afford to host a new collector to dinner, and she wanted to celebrate our new friendship, too. I was thrilled and becoming starry-eyed at the possibilities for the weekend. We had several more rounds of martinis and were getting a little giddy, so we decided to order our dinner. She ordered a bottle of her favorite French chardonnay, saying I would love it. We dined, drank and chatted for three hours, it was past 11pm when we left. We shared so many things about each other. She was 28, and she and her parents were devout Catholics. When she learned I was Catholic, she asked if I would go to Mass with her on Sunday and we could go to brunch afterward. I readily agreed. Except for part of her MBA, all of her other college expenses were from athletic and academic scholarships. She hadn't had a boyfriend in over two years. His name was Nicky and they were engaged, but he ...
