... about to close the laptop and change clothes, the doorbell rang. I answered the door and there stood a young man who appeared to be in his early twenties. He was dressed in what I would call business casual clothing. Before I could say anything, he spoke to me in a clear, loud voice. "Hello there. Are you Frank Beddoes?" "Yes I am. What can I do for you." He reached into his jacket pocket and handed me an envelope which appeared to be rather full of papers. "Mr. Beddoes, you've been served." Before I could say anything he turned and left. I went to the kitchen table and took the documents out of the envelope. They were divorce papers. Susan had filed for divorce. The grounds were adultery. As I read further, I saw that the filing had named Lucy Novak and Megan Stiles as co-respondents. How in the fuck did she find out so much? I was stunned, standing there with the papers in my hand. From the spare bedroom I could hear Susan calling out to me. "Hey, Frank, that wasn't anything important at the door, was it?" She began laughing, just a giggle at first but becoming more of a deep full-bodied roar of laughter. That conniving bitch...
