... lover. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with him. I had no idea that from the moment we met he was very insecure about our relationship. Jackson thought the closer we got to graduation the closer we got to our relationships expiration date. He was worried that as soon as I went to college I’d meet someone new and dump him. He was going to stay in our town and get a job with his older brother towing cars. The second he heard that my plans changed, he changed his and volunteered to move with me. I thought this was great news. I wouldn’t have to do this by myself. I would have my number one fan by my side. I thought this was going to strengthen our relationship. It also didn’t hurt that he had $3,000 saved up. It took us three days to get to Los Angeles. Stayed at a hotel by the airport for two days until we moved into our one bedroom Marina del Rey apartment. Jackson quickly found a job, working as a cook at the Cheesecake Factory. I spent my first four days in town trying to get Maureen to call me back. Three days alter I had my headshots and Maureen was setting up meetings. I thought they went great, but nothing materialized. This went on for two months. Things at home were getting worse. Our finances were dwindling. Jackson was unhappy that I wasn’t bringing in any money. Our sex life was becoming non-existent. And to top it all off we argued all the time. I was about to take a job waitressing at The Cheesecake Factory to help make ends meet when I got a call from Maureen to meet her at The Urth Café in Venice. I found her sitting inside the restaurant. When I approached the table she stood-up and hugged me. After we sat down she got right to business. “How do you think things are going,” she asked. “Not good,” I said tearing up. “Careers don’t happen over night,” she said. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback about you. Eventually you’re going to get booked. It might take some time.” “I don’t know if I have that ...
