... for Ameri-National in Oklahoma. As with the tradition of trucking, dating back to the CB radio, most everyone was known by their ‘handle’ or nickname. It was no different when Al and Deloris owned Miller Midwest Trucking; Al was referred to as Badger, a nickname derived from his personality. For a time, Deloris was known as Mrs. Badger, because she was his wife and had the same kind of personality. The ‘Badger’ part of her nickname was eventually dropped and ‘Misses’ became Deloris‘s handle. Handles were exclusively used when communicating by radio. Drivers were issued a cell phone when Ameri-National bought out Miller Midwest but handles carried over. After their divorce, Badger still referred to his ex as Misses. It was one of those situations where the couple got along better after they separated than when they were married. Being close to their family, Mark knew that Badger and Misses still shared a bed from time to time. Mark grimaced when he thought of that, because Badger now seemed to frequent another’s bed as well. “Cowboy!” addressed Misses, using Mark’s handle. “Hi, Misses, and before you get on to me, let me apologize for not turning my phone on.” “Cowboy, you need to call Jessie, she has called here at least once and sometimes twice every thirty minutes! Now, are you going tell me so I can help?” Misses prodded. Mark was getting kind of annoyed at her insistence of getting into his personal business. Also, Mark was annoyed at his wife for spreading their troubles. This did confirm to him that Jessie found the pair of panties he had left on the counter earlier this morning. “Misses, why don’t you ask Badger? He knows!” Mark answered abruptly. The phone fell silent except for some faint talking in the background. Misses finally came back on the phone, “Cowboy, why are you heading south on I-35?” Mark realized that when he powered on the phone, its GPS gave Misses his location. Ameri-National used that to track their drivers. “Fred said that you will never make it in time if you don’t take I-40 due west.” So they were telling him how to fucking drive now! Mark became furious and clicked the phone off. Taking a deep breath trying to reel in his emotions, he spied a banner hanging on the Super Center that would solve this problem. As Mark walked over to the store, he felt the phone continually vibrate in his pocket. A half-hour later, Mark walked out of the Super Center. He listened to a few of the messages from Jessie. It killed him to hear her broken voice ...
