... that memory brought to Mark’s lips was a rare occurrence lately as he continued to remember the events of that particular trip. Especially when Jessie came off her orgasmic high, she winked devilishly at him. She eased off her seat and crouched in the sleeper entrance by his seat and pressed her love coated fingers to his lips. Never before, or since, have the wide open flatland of Texas gone by so quickly! But that was in the past. Mark contemplated his next actions and life without her. A huge knot swelled in his throat, tears flooded and spilled from his eyes. There in the desolate part of a parking lot, with no one around, the trucker cried. Twice today he had thought of past good times with Jessie. That’s all he had of her now plus a couple of pictures in his wallet and a few more in his truck. Missing her was already plaguing him and he had not even hit the highway. Mark finally jumped out to get some fresh air and clear his head. Rush hour traffic had surely passed he thought. Five kids bailed out of the back of the RV as Mark made his way over. The family was moving to El Paso and had just started out when trouble started. They were attempting to beat the forecasted winter storm by pulling the kids out of school early and head across West Texas. The inside tire of the driver-side rear duels had gone flat and needed to be changed. As it turned out, they didn’t have the proper tools. Lucky for them, they ran into Mark, for he saved them a hefty service call charge. It was also a good distraction for Mark, briefly pulling his mind away from his troubles. Both the man and his wife thanked Mark for the assistance. After placing his tools back on the truck, he decided to turn on his cell phone. The number of unread text messages flashed with a warning of the message limit being neared. The phone icon also flashed with fifteen missed calls. He was about to review the text message list, knowing full well, who most of the messages were from, when the display was replaced by an incoming call alert from Ameri-National Freight. Misses contacted Mark almost as soon as he powered on his cell phone. Misses was the ex-Mrs. Al Miller, who dispatched ...
