... looker. As Sheila wiped the booth table, her short uniform skirt raised high enough to show the top of her stockings. He bet Sheila raked in the tips! Even from tables she did not wait on! Mark’s attention quickly reverted back to Badger. Fifty five years old himself and still going strong! In the trucking industry all of his life, the years had been hard on him. His hair and beard that framed his face were totally white. His laughter boomed as he flirted with Sheila. All of a sudden someone stood in his view of the burly black man. It was Jack the mechanic. “Hey Mark! I have been trying to text you! You’re ready to roll!” he grinned. “Jeez… Jack, I am sorry, I completely forgot to turn my cell on! Thanks buddy. I’ll pay up here and be right over.” The mechanic smiled and found his way out of the busy restaurant. Mark left a ten dollar bill on the table for Sheila. They do this every year and he has pulled you into it now!” “It’s good money Badger, no,” Mark re-thought his words, “hell, it’s great money!” “That’s if you make it Marcus! Ain’t no one done it yet!” Changing his tone, “Is Jessie okay with this, you will be gone a long time? Thanksgiving is just around the corner.” Mark let out a nervous smirk. “I have a feeling she will be… um… she is fine with it!” “I will make sure she is okay.” “Oh! I bet you will Badger.” Badger was about to take a sip of coffee, but sat it back down quickly and started to say something when his cell phone sounded with an incoming call. Both men looked down at the table where Badger had laid it. Mark saw the letters ‘JESS’ before Badger quickly picked it up. He did ...
