The next day, on the way to work I noticed the dark blue sedan was still in the empty lot with the hood up. I guess we should have closed it. But on the way home, the car was gone. Curious, I drove down Shawnigan Lake Road to her house. The car was there, and so was an old beat up white and orange pickup truck. There was a guy at the door, yelling and acting wildly. I thought that maybe I should drive in and make sure Donna was alright. But the guy slammed the door, and headed for his truck. I drove on. Turns out that the guy was her husband, or should I say ex-husband. He was delivering the finalized divorce papers, but I didn’t know that. I had driven past her place about a week after our first encounter, but the place was deserted. A 'For Sale' sign was on the lawn. I wanted to call her, but I didn't even have her number, or new address. About four months went by. I thought of Donna every day, and especially every night. I kept going over how it all went down. What could have I done differently, I mused. But I was glad just to have had that one brief moment in her life. I would never forget her. And on this day, I ran into her at the Cold Beer and Wine store in Mill Bay. "Donna, how have you been? Are you okay?" "Oh, hi Greg." It was a partial truth. She had just met a guy yesterday, and had planned a date for Friday night. "Well, call me if it doesn’t work out. I would love to be the next one to be with you. You still have my card, right?" "Yes, maybe I’ll call you sometime. Bye," with that she walked out of my life, once again. It was true though, she had a lot on her plate. With the divorce, the selling of the house, the move, the packing and unpacking, settling the kids in a new school, she had no time for a relationship. And meeting Steve was merely a coincidence. It happened at work. She had to park her car across the road from where she worked. Chelsea’s Fish and Chips was getting a paved driveway, finally. As she walked up to the door of the restaurant, some of the paving crew started making wolf calls, and making crude remarks. They couldn’t help but notice her. Donna learned as a teenager how to command the attention of men, not just boys, men. She instinctively knew how desirable she was, especially when so many of them hit on her. She wasn’t interested in sex, so she got back at them by becoming a PT, a prick teaser, and a very good one. She loved making them horny, taunting them, but never letting them have her. Her mannerisms and appearance belied her age, coming across as very womanly. She knew she ...
