... together, like now. I wake up for only a few minutes later on, so relaxed that the mattress beneath hardly feels real, like we're hovering in the air, wrapped up together. Your head is on my chest, a pillow you're fond of several nights a week. It's that very still hour right before dawn, when the skies are dark but edged with shimmers of light. The street looks so cold, drenched in dark blue and a shiny layer of frost. Whenever the weather is this way outside, everything looks so fragile and made of ice, like the slightest sound or movement could crack the entire world. At least we're safe and warm here. I tell you that by holding you just a little tighter, a message like a whisper as you sleep. Telling you I love you. That this is exactly where I always long to be.
