... possible. Since he was not expected at the office for a few more hours, he took the rolls of film into his developing room and started to work on them. In the glow of the red light in dark room, Diane appeared on film. First, little bits of her; then, less abstract photos. He hoped there would be more to come. As he locked up the studio, he wondered when he’d see her again. John had arrived home from the studio to the normal craziness; the dog was barking, his wife was discussing something with one of the children and his mother was making enough food for a family of 16. He gave his wife a quick kiss hello, and went into the kitchen and opened up the fridge to find a beer. Popping the lid, he took a quick sip. John smiled at his mother, “Hi ma. What’s for dinner?” “Pulled pork, although Clare says she’s becoming a vegetarian. I told her she can become a vegetarian when she goes to university, because she won’t be able to afford meat then.” Ma chuckled. John grinned at his mother. John loaded the film in Beauty and the spare, and had another eight rolls of film ready to go. He sipped his water and logged onto his computer, pulling up his playlist to keep him company until Diane arrived. At 2:30, Diane knocked on the door. “Sorry I am late. Stuff, you know,” she smiled as she entered the studio. Diane was wearing a faded blue denim shirt over a pair of white loose capris. She put down her bag on his table, and kicked off her sandals. She pulled out a chair and sat sipping her take-out tea. “So, what’s the plan for today?” she asked. John leaned back watching her. Diane met his gaze without wavering. He gave a little grin and said quietly, “What have you visualized for today?” Diane continued to hold his gaze. “Well … the light is different in here now. Perhaps we should try the other side of the studio? What does it look like?” as she got up. John got up and showed her the way to the other side where the dark room was. ...
