My Promotion

Actually I guess I have only myself to blame. I mean I was the one that insisted that we invite my boss Roger to our pool party. My wife Dot (short for Dorothy) didn't want to invite him because he wasn't married and with two other couples it wouldn't be even. She has rules like that about stuff. I told her that he was in line for a promotion to corporate and that would mean that he would move to the twin cities and I was next in line in our division. The next day was Wednesday so I invited him. I told him it would be this Saturday and that if he wanted to bring someone he could but he didn't have to. I also told him about the two other couples that I was inviting, and since we all worked together everyone would know each other. He accepted and said that he would be happy to come. ... something that he was going to do this weekend or declined an invitation that it might make him mad and that was one thing I didn't want. I thought that once he showed up and saw that there would only be the three of us he would probably want to leave anyway, so let's just carry on and let him decide when he gets here. Well he showed up just after two and I was totally floored when he introduced his friend Steve. I had no idea that he might be gay, but I just let it go. I told him about the two other couples and he said that he knew since corporate called him. He told me that Steve and himself decided to come anyway since he didn't know if I had invited anyone else and he didn't want to be a non show for no real good reason. Well we all went out to the patio and got drinks and began to relax. I had never socialized with a gay couple and I didn't do or say anything out of the ordinary. I did ask if they met in Hawaii since they both were wearing Hawaiian type baggy swim suits, but they said no, they just liked to wear them. We talked and Steve talked about his job and where he worked and what he did there. Then we started to talk about hunting. I asked if they were hungry and they said not really so we just snacked and drank a few drinks.
