... said. "What'ya reading?" I held up my book. Janet Evanovich. "She's one of my favorites." "Never heard of her," he said. He leaned closer to me. My temperature spiked, and my mouth went dry. "I love to read, too," he said softly. "I think intelligence, and the ability to lose yourself in a story, is hugely sexy." Evan came in. "Hey, J.L., stop hitting on my girl." "I'm not hitting on her." "You hit on anything that moves." "Hey, that's not true." "You're not hitting on her?" Evan asked. "I'm not hitting on her... yet." "Come on, pervert, and get your ass off her desk." He leaned over and kissed my cheek. "Hi, babe." Swipe, swipe. "Have a good time," I said. They both leered at me. I stared at their asses when they walked through the double doors. Someone cleared her throat. "Oh my God, sorry." It was Jane, a regular who was about fifty. "Don't blame you, those boys are fine. A little out of my age range, but fun to watch." I blushed. Swipe. I buried my nose in my book. It got busy. Mostly women in their mid-twenties. Swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe. If him kissing my cheek was this hot, I was never going to be able to withstand lessons on how to make out. Maybe I should get a book on it or something. But of course I wouldn't be able to find a book on it between the time I got off work and had to be at Evan and Heather's house. I decided on a bright yellow mini skirt, a loose black top, and three-inch high heels. I snuck some rum out of my parents' cabinet and had a fortifying sip. I drove the two blocks in order not to have to walk in the heels. I figured I was still under the alcohol limit and could make the two block drive okay. I was walking up the path to their house at the same time Jean-Luc pulled up. I waited for him. "Hey, you look nice." "Thanks." I decided he might be a little more forthcoming than Evan. "You going to tell me what you do there?" "Every sordid detail." "Really?" "Yeah, if you want to know." I nodded. Yes. I wanted to know. Evan let us in. Kiss on the cheek for me. Manly-type hug for Jean-Luc where only their shoulders touch. Cuff and Link ran into the room. They jumped up on Jean-Luc. Standing on their hind legs they were almost as tall as he was. He laughed. "Down!" Evan said firmly. They got down. Dinner was home-made lasagna. Jean-Luc was ...
