... third year student nurse sitting writing reports. The main overhead lights were all out, and the ward was lit only by the desk lamp. “Dr. Dawson isn’t it?” she asked, looking enquiringly at him. “The day shift said you would be coming round. I am Barbara Deakin. Norma, who is usually here, is on leave for two weeks, so you will have to put up with me until she gets back.” Drew looked back at her, quickly taking in her blonde hair, crisp tightly fitting uniform, and trim figure. She was an outstandingly attractive girl in her early twenties with blue eyes and dimpled cheeks. He was immediately captivated. “Hello Barbara,” he replied, “Call me Drew. Any problems, anything you are worried about?” “Well, yes,” she said, tilting her head to one side, eyeing him sideways and mentally noting from his body language that he seemed interested in her in ways that were definitely other than solely professional. “Mrs. Wells, the thyroid lady who Mr N did this morning is very restless and anxious. He looked at the chart and noted the rate had increased recently, and her temperature was normal. “Everything is fine,” he said, “but I think your postoperative drugs may have worn off a little sooner than we would like, so I will give something extra to relax you and help you to go off to sleep for the rest of the night.” Looking at Barbara he picked up the chart and wrote on it. “10 milligrams of Diazepam, IM stat,” he instructed verbally. “Thank-you,” replied Barbara and turning to the patient went on “I will just go and get your injection for you, and it will settle you down again.” With that they both walked back up the ward to the prep room off the corridor outside the ward. As they went along in single file, he couldn’t help noticing the neat and highly attractive female figure, swaying seductively along in front of him. Barbara went into the room first, reached round for the ...
