... parents did not allow them to come. That was not foreseen and rather sad for Jill. She really wanted a memorable party, and with half the kids not attending it might not be as good. I told her we would just have to spice it up to make the non-attendees wish they’d been there. We started conceiving of fun (adult) games to play. One game was beer pong, which is a popular drinking game everyone knows about. The next one was “strip corn hole” where the players must throw a bean bag into a hole. After all, these were high school grads and not MIT scholars. I was pretty good at devising adult versions of yard games, so I am sure other games will occur to us as the course of the night went on.

The party started at 8pm and my kayak trip buddies, Mike, Rick and Bob were the first to arrive. They greeted Jill like old lovers, and she was thrilled that they came. I knew it would be a good party with them here to make it fun. They were in charge of bringing the beer. I knew they would come thru with that task. ... kayak buddies helped skew the numbers of males. The yard games started. I was Game Master and set up the beer pong game. There were glasses of beer on the table and the object was to bounce a Ping-Pong ball on the table and it land in your opponent’s glass of beer. If you landed a ping pong ball, your opponent had to drink the glass of beer. This got the kids pretty loose since none were accustomed to drinking. My Kayak buddies were mixed in with the other kids, so they coached everyone and goaded them on to drink. The winners got points for the big prize at the end of the night.

Next, after beer pong was done, I explained the rules for “Strip Corn Hole” which I thought was self-explanatory. We set up a piece of plywood with a clown’s face painted on it. The clown’s mouth was the hole in the plywood. Each player has three tries to get the bean bag into the clown’s hole. If the person was unsuccessful, they lost a piece of clothing. And shoes/socks don’t count. There were four rounds, and the person with the most successful corn holes gained a point for a prize to be awarded at the end of the night. To add a bit of fun, the players each had to guzzle a cup of beer before each toss. We had eight players and there were four boys and four girls playing. All the other kids were spectators.
