“Ready?” he asks. “Almost.” I adjust my mask, an extravagant creation adorned with soft feathers and tiny crystals, and make sure my robe is tied securely. My thighs are already damp with anticipation. “I can’t believe we’re doing this,” he whispers, opening the door. I look around the exclusive establishment; at first glance, it is a sea of writhing bodies, of strangers doing delicious things in semi-darkness, their faces covered and identities hidden. Beneath the anonymity of a mask, anyone can be whoever they desire to be. Tonight, I will allow myself to be the real me.
