Claire needn't have worried. Mr. Lester had put out the word that morning that Claire was off limits for the next two days. The severity of the beating Kay had reported to him, based on her quick peek that morning, meant Claire wouldn't be needing more sex for at least that long. Claire had been keeping up pretty well, and school would be over in three weeks. He would provide grace for his early final and he would ensure she was prepared for the remainder of her classes. Missing the day wasn't any kind of catastrophe, but it reinforced his concern that Claire had not really solidified the boundaries she would need to keep from being overwhelmed by her nature. If she couldn't keep to task in the protected environment he was providing her, he felt certain she would easily be swamped on her own.

Freed from the need to keep her activities secret, she was becoming overwhelmed by her carnal nature. He knew there were men that would encourage this; who would happily keep her as a full-time sex slave. And he accepted that this might in fact prove to be her destiny. But he was adamant she would make that decision consciously rather than simply waking up one day, no doubt, on a morning such as the one she was probably "enjoying" today, to find that her option for any other kind of life had been lost. ... wasn't quite sure how to stimulate her own sense of self-preservation while still providing a safe environment for her to work out the kind of life she really wanted to pursue. His protection and control of her life was only meant to be temporary. Somehow, he had to demonstrate to her the consequences of failing to take responsibility for maintaining her options. Simply denying her sex was not a viable punishment for having failed to request space for studying.

As she puts it, she will become "squirrely" without sex: Certainly not the deliberative frame of mind that's needed! Beating her will just as likely end up simply arousing her. But somehow, a very significant demonstration is needed to make her take this issue seriously. But just how do I arrange that? Mr. Lester concluded that this question was going to take some thinking.For now, I'll just let her fret about her punishment.
