... which is a large, well-lit room with soft carpet and white walls. There is a large projection screen on the far wall. Three large couches are arrayed in a half circle facing the projection screen. In the middle of the couches is a large square ottoman. On the opposite side of the room from the projection screen is a kitchenette and a minibar. This room looks just as posh as the rest of the house.

“What up fuck face?!” I call out to John who is sitting on the couch directly in front of the projection screen.

John, who was playing a first-person shooter game, raised his middle finger high into the air and yelled back, “How goes it you dickless wonder?”

Perfect, John is playing a video game just as we talked about. We wanted Parker to think that we were just here to play video games together like in the good old days. The only difference is that we didn’t have this big of a screen back then.

“Hi, John,” Parker says.

John pauses his game, looks over his shoulder, and says, “Hey buddy! How’s it going? It’s been a while.”

“I’m doing good but not as good as you apparently,” Parker says as he steps up to the back of the couch John is sitting on.

Standing up, John stretches his back a bit and says, “Yeah, well, what can I say? The gods have smiled down upon me. You guys thirsty? There are beers and shit in the fridge. Snacks in the cupboards. I’ve got weed too and some other stuff if you’re interested. Just rummage over there and you’ll probably find something ...

... you want.”

Parker rounds the couch to talk to John about the game he’s playing. I head over to the minibar to find a drink.

Just then, Ashley enters the room and walks over to talk to me. “Are your friends still on for tonight?” She asks me.

I pull a soda from the fridge and as I pop it open, I say, “They are, and we’ll have two more than I planned on.”

Ashley has a big smile on her face and says, “The more, the merrier. Are they still arriving at 10 pm?”

I nod as I take a sip, then say, “Yeah, they should all arrive at the same time. I don’t want Parker to know until everyone is here.”

“Right!” Ashley agrees, “I’ll keep them upstairs until they are all here, and then I’ll let you know.”

I wink at her and say “Sounds good. Thanks!” And with that, I head over to join in with Parker and John.

The three of us play video games for a while. One of us periodically gets up to find something to snack on or drink. John and I insist on keeping the place clean from clutter, which Parker is a little confused about but doesn’t argue. I’m pretty sure Parker thinks that this is all we are doing tonight, which is exactly what I want him to think. I look down at my watch which is showing a few minutes past 10 pm. I look up at John, who looks at me and gives a nod. He is as ready for this as I am. It seems everyone is excited about this party except for Parker, who has no clue what is about to happen.
