... downside was I needed to make sure I kept it away from Tammy before she wrapped me upside the head. While my wife may claim she wants me to train her as a submissive, let me get shot and all that goes out the window. She let us all know who was in charge.

Once we finished up at the pharmacy, we headed to the police station. He informed me that after the Rangers picked up the three in order to transport them to Austin, he had released the girl's father from protective custody. I was glad to hear that bit of news. Kelly and I spent the next four hours filling out paperwork. When one of us didn't have a pen in our hand we had a phone to our ears and relayed to the Governor, the AG, the assistant AG and finally the Senior Captain with the Texas Rangers our version of the events as they had happened.

Once the last statement was written and the last phone call completed, the Chief dropped us back at the airport and our flight back home. I didn't know about the rest of my crew but I was wiped out and the pain in my leg, which had started out as tolerable as best had grown too unbearable. As soon as we boarded, Tammy gave me some pain meds and told me to lay down. I had Kelly secure all our weapons back into the armory. The last thing I saw before I closed my eyes was Tammy smiling for the first time of the day as Debby crawled into the seat with me.

... the same. I started to sit up but Tammy laid her hand on my shoulder to stop me. It seems while I was out a call had come in saying I was needed in Austin. Tammy let me know Jack would give her and Debby a ride home and I should continue to get some more sleep. Jack told me he would get me set up with physical therapy in two days as soon as we made it back into town. I nodded but I could tell there was something going on with him. I would have pursued it further but the pain meds were still singing in my system and I was back out before we took off again.

The next time I woke up it was Kelly letting me know we had made it to Austin. Ugh. I finally sat up and fought the stiffness that had set up in my joints. Kelly gave me a concerned look but I let her know I was ok. I didn't want to admit it was old age.

I had the driver drop us off at the apartment I had set up not far from the capital. After a quick shower, Kelly handed me a credit card Tammy had given her. I told her to hang on to it as we were going shopping shortly. While we may be dressed for tactical work, they were still the same clothes we'd had on for the last two days. Or was it three days by now? Mine had blood on it from my wound and Kelly had blood from me as well as probably Perez and Calhoun. I couldn't imagine what our employers would think with us showing up as we were.
