... but it made me feel emotionally drained after each scene. Lily, who had spent years at acting school, coped better but still found some scenes challenging. We talked about it, and I told her how I imagined Alicia going through these events, and Lily could see how much I loved her. The two girls were getting on very well, and we occasionally had lunch together.

One Friday, towards the end of July, Naomi came on set for the first time. Sabrina, Mai, and Naomi hadn't joined us until now. Alicia had been away with her parents for a couple of days and was due back that evening, but I had found it challenging on set since she had been gone. So, Naomi agreed to come along to give me some much-needed emotional support.

In the afternoon, Lily's attitude was cold to me, and I couldn't understand why. Once the director had called an end to the day, I took Lily to one side to talk to her.

"Is everything okay?" I asked her. "You don't seem yourself today. Is there anything I can do?"

Lily looked at me crossly and then let rip.

"Alicia has been gone two days, and you're already fooling around with another girl! I thought I knew you better than that, you pig! Don't think I won't tell her."

"It's not what you think. Alicia is due back this evening from her parents," I responded. "Why don't you come around and let us explain."

And Yvette always enjoyed spending time with me, so she asked to come along. Philippe had met the girls and me when we went skiing, so they decided to make a weekend of it.

When Lily arrived, we had finished breakfast and were in the garden playing with Yvette. Alicia heard her and let her in, and when they came out, Yvette was chasing me around the garden, trying to catch me. After letting Yvette finally catch me, I saw Lily and introduced Lily to everyone. I then excused myself to Emily and Philippe and returned to the kitchen with Lily and my girlfriends.

"I feel some explanation is in order," I began. "I'm sorry for not telling you before, but I didn't think it was relevant, and it's not something we shout about, but these are all my girlfriends."

"Before you say anything," Alicia said. "Let me explain, and you might understand."

Lily nodded, looking bewildered at the five of us.

"I met David on holiday in the summer after we'd both just finished our GCSE exams," Alicia continued. "School life for me was miserable, and I was very depressed. It came to a head while I was on holiday in Scotland with my parents when a boy spread malicious things about me online. I was so low I couldn't take it anymore.
