... men clearly liked her body, and the sex was good, but they wanted a younger woman for the long term. Alice's "Buy before" date had clearly expired, as far as they were concerned. Most men her age, were still married, or also dating younger women. Alice sat sipping her drink as she thought of her ex-husband, her now remarried ex-husband. As is often the case, he had married a younger woman who, like him, was divorced as the result of a cheating spouse. She recognized the value of a loving, faithful man who, though not what he once was in bed, was still able to please her and give her what she needed on so many other levels. Indeed, Alice's own children always, and often, spoke glowingly of their father's relationship with their, now stepmother. It was clear that they liked her, respected her, and valued her opinion more than their own mother's. Often Alice would feel as if she were the "Johnny-come-lately" person in her children's affairs, as their stepmother had, to all intents and purposes, replaced her. Alice took another sip of her drink as she contemplated life and the consequences of her actions and what might have been if she had not broken her vows for those 48 hours, those 48 short hours of lustful destruction.
