... person I called when it happened was my best bud Josh. He asked if he could come to the studio tonight - I told him I would ask you. He only has like 8 inches, but I think you'd like him anyway."
Kyle rolled his eyes. "Asshole apprentice."
The two dressed and headed to the studio in separate cars. When they arrived, just thirty seconds apart, a young man with brown hair and stunning blue eyes was waiting in the parking lot. He was wearing a loose tank top that showed off large, muscled shoulders and offered peeks at a well developed pectoral cleft, much of the large beefy muscles on his chest were visible, barely concealed by his top. He was also wearing a pair of loose shorts and flip flops and looked like he could have been coming from the beach. He was nearly as tall as Jeremy and was darker, perhaps a blend of southern European or Latin backgrounds.
"Hi, I'm Josh, you must be Kyle," he smiled and held out his hand.
Kyle shook it, "Nice to meet you Josh. I did not realize you would be such a good looking young man, all Jeremy told me you was your dick size."
Josh laughed at this for some time, mocking Jeremy who was caught off guard by the humor. Soon, they were all laughing and walking towards Kyle's work area. Kyle noted there were no additional cars in the parking lot that afternoon, a good sign, though he knew Roger would be back to teach an evening class in a few hours.
Jeremy was excitedly showing Josh everything about the studio. He was ...
... especially proud of the work he had done yesterday, his first successful off the hump throw. "Off the what?" Josh asked, perplexed and amused.
"Ah, it's awesome! You start with this massive amount of clay and you have to wrestle that beast to get it stick and to get it centered. Kyle says you don't need to center the whole thing and it will work fine but I want to eventually throw massive pieces and like the practice. Anyway, you center this huge mass and then you practice just throwing the top one pound of clay, making bowls or mugs or whatever, then you cut that off, push up another pound of clay and keep going until you used all the clay," Jeremy explained eagerly.
"Ah, so the hump is the big clump of clay and you are not throwing all of it all at once, just the top bit, so you are throwing that top bit off of the hump. Ok, makes sense!" Josh remarked, almost relieved to have understood.
"What he didn't tell you," Kyle interrupted, "was that the bowls in his batch yesterday are all almost identical. They are retail ready. Close enough to one another to be a set but just different enough to know they were handmade. They're perfect! He threw two large humps, 25 pounds in all, and got 22 very good looking cereal bowls."
Jeremy beamed with pride. "Kyle is a good teacher, I am lucky."
Kyle smiled, "Jeremy, why don't you bring out the pieces from Monday, the mugs, we'll work through trimming them and Josh will see you in action."
Both young men snickered. Jeremy nodded ...
