... turned and looked at her. She looked serious. I waited. “It’s okay to talk like that when we’re having, ‘taboo fun’ and it’s just us. I want to make sure you know that you can’t talk like that ALL the time. Got it?” I nodded with a smile and she returned the gesture just before I turned and left. I scored my place on the couch and snagged the remote turning it to Nickelodeon. I was in heaven seeing that one of my favorite shows, ‘Doug’ was on. I settled in during the theme song and Mommy left the kitchen heading down the hall. The aroma’s poured out, making my mouth salivate. Suddenly I was starving. Daddy and Chris came out and joined me eventually. Whenever this happened I knew it was only a matter of time before one of them took control and changed the channel but tonight I didn’t mind as much when Dad said that wonder years was on. I obediently switched it to the channel and we watched as he smoked and drank, the smells from the kitchen growing thicker and richer. Mommy came back out wearing the same see-through nightie I saw her in the other night. She served each of us our dinners before sitting down with her own and we all dug in. It wasn’t until we had finished our dinner that I remembered my open beer as I watched Daddy drink his. “My beer!?” I protested. “You can have some another night Bud. I want you to be clear headed tonight. This’s important.” He said and my mind started racing. Did this mean…?
