My destination looked just like any of the others, and I walked up the steps to the front door. After one last check of my watch and a wait of thirty seconds for the time to reach 1:00, I knocked on the heavy wooden door. The pounding of my heart kept me company as I waited. I heard the sounds of the latch opening, then saw the door open, swinging into the interior darkness. I couldn’t see anything or anyone inside, but I just heard her voice. “Welcome, Christopher. Come inside.”
