It was a two-hour drive north to my cabin. I told it was a beautiful drive and her comments did not let me down. On the long straight road, we saw the sun just starting to drop behind the mountains. I slow the car and put in the dirt drive on the right-hand side of the road. It was rough, but an easy drive up to the barn. The trees opened up ahead and he could see my barn for the first time. “Is that where you are taking me,” she questions with an irritated tone in her voice. “You said you would take me to your pleasure cabin. That I would enjoy myself. That looks like a dump.” She crossed her arms in angry huff. “Just give it a chance,” I said, just knowing this would be her reaction. The barn was 35 feet by 35 feet. The siding was a vertical ship lapped that was weathered from the elements. The roof slope was not too steep but not low either. There was no window, only a door, in which the red paint was peeling. I stopped the truck about ten feet from the building and put the car in park. “Listen if you don’t like it I will take you home. If you don’t check it out, you will be so disappointed.” I opened the door, and the interior light came on. “Give it a try.” I slid out of the truck and closed the door. I took my time walking around the front of the truck. I could see she was not happy. They are never happy when they see the outside. Opening her door, I reached my hand out for her to take it. She huffed but took it and I helped her down. She kicked a small ...

The light was a soft light that only lit about ten feet from the building. She saw the keypad and then looked at me. “It is not your normal barn. I have been telling you that.” I then punched in the code and the door unlocked. The outside looked beat up, the interior was completely amazing. The thick wood beams were exposed giving it a rustic feel. These 8x8 heavy Timbers gave the space a powerful feel that all who entered felt. Partly blocking the entrance into the made space was thick chains hanging from one of these timbers. These chains hang from a track and can be moved to suit any and all situations. The slight breeze of us entering made the chains sway. Then sending a low metal ring in the air. “Come,” I said, motioning her to follow me deeper into space. “Let me show you the rest of the naughtiest I have come up with.” To the left of the entrance, I pushed the heavy red velvet curtain back. With a flick of the light switch the space was illuminated. It was a sitting space. The warm tones of the floor and exposed beams were offset by the brick wall. At the far end was a fireplace, but on the warm fall evening it was not needed. Framing the fireplace was a heavy timber mantle and wood trim just outside the fire box. In between us were two leather sofas facing each other. They just called for one to sit and relax. ...
