The food was very good, although in Chelsea's opinion the portions could have been a bit larger. She noticed that Sophie hardly touched hers however. She just pushed it around the plate. After the main course the waiter asked if anybody wanted dessert, but Lance had another suggestion.

"You know they have a cigar lounge here, if you fancy one before dessert," Lance told Connor.

Connor had that schoolboy look on his face as he asked Chelsea if she'd mind, which of course she didn't, and she was rewarded with an affectionate kiss from him. Lance kissed Sophie as he got up to leave and for a moment Chelsea thought she saw Sophie look at him longingly. Then the two men walked off.

"Connor likes you a lot, I can tell," Sophie told Chelsea when they'd gone.

"He should do. I bought him a ninety five thousand dollar watch this afternoon," Chelsea joked. "Although it was with his own money."

Sophie laughed at the joke.

"You do know that's small change to him, right?"

"I think I'm still getting my head around that. When I first met him I had no idea who he was. He looked so scruffy. He'd noticed my old phone with the cracked screen and so on our first date he presented me with a nice new one. I thought he was broke so I told him to take it back to the shop and get a refund. He gave it to our waitress when I wasn't looking."

"Why did you think he was broke?" Sophie laughed.

"Well, he said he was divorced and living on a boat. I thought ...

Sophie laughed out loud at the story. "You know we had a pre-nup'," she confided. "I wasn't entitled to anything of Connor's in the divorce. He didn't have to, but he looked after me. Bought me a nice house in the Hollywood Hills and made sure I didn't go wanting for anything."

"You both still talk about each other affectionately," Chelsea told Sophie.

"That's good to hear," Sophie relied. "But you shouldn't feel threatened, honestly."

"Don't worry. I'm not the jealous type," Chelsea replied. "What about you and Lance though? You seem to get on well."

"Lance is great fun. We've had the best time these past few months. But I think I like him more than he likes me." Sophie said trying to make out like it was no big deal. "Anyway, he's off to Greece in a few weeks and that'll probably be the end of it."

"Have you told him how you feel?"

"You must kidding. It's much easier to just let the fire die out on its own."

For the first time Chelsea saw a hint of the insecurity and self-doubt that Connor had mentioned earlier.

"In that case you should make the most of the time before he goes," Chelsea suggested coyly.

"I don't suppose you and Connor would like to come back with us tonight," Sophie suggested, trying to sound non-committal about it.

"I think we'd be interested. I'm pretty sure Connor would like the chance to spend some time with you."
