It's a trip home from work that I rush a lot more than usual. "Okay, have fun, honey," she says as she turns a page in her book.

"It'll just be for a few hours?"

"Okay."

"Two? Two hours tops?" I promise hesitantly.

... the keyboard, any sense of time is thrown out of the window. It's not until Jane comes into the room that I realize it's dark outside and the streetlights have all turned on.
