I guess they must have got it together in the barn, or maybe in the RV, but by the time the roping rig was installed it was clear that Rob and Jack were enjoying more than just each others company, I even caught Rob staring at Jack's ass when he wasn't aware that I had strolled quietly into the barn. I had to sneak out and make a load of clatter before re-entering. I was pleased for Rob, but a little concerned about Eileen, doubly so because Karen was arriving late that afternoon and then staying for the Rodeo. I worried that she was going to feel completely left out of things and was at a loss as to what I could do.

I really should not have been so concerned because Karen was fabulous as always. She brought Eileen a bottle of vintage champagne, some outrageous artisan chocolates and a super-expensive vanilla scented candle. Not only that, but she made a real fuss over her, almost to the extent that I was beginning to feel jealous. After a delicious chile con carne with tortillas and dips that Eileen had prepared for everyone, people gradually retired and eventually it was just the three members of the ranch sisterhood sitting on the sofa watching a romcom that Karen had brought up on her Netflix account.
