... remember the inner nerd in me telling her that she needed to be more careful as genetically her baby needed to have blue eyes. She just kissed me and told me the only baby she needed was the green eyed one she was looking at, before adding that she was a biology major and actually it was still a 50:50 outcome! We laughed, hugged, and fell asleep in each other's arms. The next few weeks were a blur as everything happened so fast, but one thing was crystal clear. I was now totally Cristina. The only time it crossed my mind that I was different from other girls was when I went for a pee and had to handle the evidence. Apart from that I was just being me, a me I felt completely comfortable with, a girl. Every morning it was a joy to wake up, make-up and go work on the ranch. My room was becoming more of a statement about who I was and I had begun to fill it with things that made it mine. There was a cuddly groundhog, lots of cushions, a big pink bean bag and lots of posters on the walls, but the best thing was the six large framed photos that Ronnie's friend George had taken of me and sent over. He assured me I didn't have to worry about anything as George was completely solid, very successful and, he chuckled, would not be interested in me as he was openly gay. I had to choke back my laughter and feigned a cough before hanging-up saying I had to rush. I laughed out loud the minute I ended the call and Rob popped his head around the door to ask me what was so funny. I told him what Ronnie had said. He shrugged and went down to the barn where he was working on things for the Rodeo. He had been a bit off with me recently, like I was irritating him, or not saying or doing what he wanted. I suspected that he resented the rather special and emotional relationship I had developed with Eileen, but at the back of my mind it did occur to me that it was when I was at my girliest that he seemed to have a problem with me. The Rodeo was starting to take shape. We had set the date for next Easter and it was looking like it was going to be more a celebration of ...
