In the taxi on the way to dinner I ponder if what I'm doing is a good idea. The silver dress I'm wearing barely covers my bum and shimmers every time I move and it's so tight I can barely breathe in it. The strapped, high heeled shoes I have on make my legs look like they go on forever and the smokey black around my eyes really make the blue pop. My long blonde hair is pinned on top of my head and the dangling silver earrings I'm wearing make my neck look long and slim. I've spent hours getting ready and I know I look amazing. All in all, I'm out to impress. The dinner is to celebrate my mum and step dad's anniversary. At first I didn't want to come, I don't really like Michael - my step dad, but I changed my mind on the chance to see Matt again. I haven't stopped thinking about him in the month since I last saw him. After our 'encounter' I ran back to college like a scared teenager. I'm not even sure why, I mean we didn't do anything wrong but it really bothered me that he had known who I was. He'd had me at a disadvantage and I didn't like that! The way he had turned the tables on me that day also bothered me. I had set out to seduce him and it ended up being the other way around. But not this time. This time I am going to blow his mind. Or at least try to. With a last look in the small mirror I get out the taxi and head into the restaurant. I follow the maître d' with what I hope is my most sexiest walk and greet everyone at the table with a warm smile. All except one. ...
... Dropping the smile, I slide my eyes over Matt's quickly and take my seat. My plan is to play it cool. Act like I couldn't care less about seeing him again. I want him to be the one begging this time. "Sorry I'm late, Mum. The taxi took ages." I lie. "It's okay, honey. We haven't ordered yet. How is college? You left so suddenly last time, I was worried." A blush creeps up my neck and I avoid Matt's gaze. "I'm sorry about that. I had a load of work to do and thought it would be best if I did it from there... less distractions." My eyes find their way to his and I hold the contact. God, he looks amazing! Just like I remember. His grey eyes twinkle at my meaning and a smile plays on the edges of his lips. I turn away before my blush makes it all the way to my face. "Well, we're glad you're back now," Michael says. I smile politely and say, "Thank you." Luckily for me the waiter interrupts and takes our orders. I sit back and listen to the conversation going on around me. At the table there are twelve people: me, my mum, Michael and Matt also my aunt Sylvia and her husband, my cousin Jack and his girlfriend. The other four people are relatives of Michael's. I can feel Matt's eyes on me and I work hard to avoid his gaze but it's hard considering he's sitting directly across from me. My heart is threatening to burst from my chest and my breathing is getting heavy. Being this close to him is driving me insane. Why did I think this would be a good idea? When the waiter fills my glass I ...
