... Evelyn retorted. Well Evee, I think it looks great, it's taken years off you. Very trendy," Henry said as he gave her a welcoming peck on the cheek. "Come on I'm going to put the kettle on. Tea, Henry, Ev?" Tess asked them. Evelyn filled her husband in on all the gossip she had heard and gave him the greetings from the doctor and his wife as they sat around the kitchen table. "Well come on, Henry, I think it is time for you to take me back to camp before the sun gets too low. I'm going to join you for a swim today," Evelyn said. She gave Henry a sly wink and picked up her hand bag. Henry thought he was hearing things but there was no mistaking Evelyn's intentions when she winked at him. "Okay, I'll get the vehicle it's over in the shade. See you, Tess," he said as he raced out the back door. Tess asked Evelyn, "Could I cook this easily?" and held up a leg of lamb that had been thawing in the refrigerator. "I'd like to do a meal for the boys." "The easiest way would be to cut the bone out of it, it's fiddley, but pretty easy and then grill the meat on the barbecue. Serve it with salad, some plain yogurt with a clove of garlic crushed into it for a sauce and maybe some potatoes. Tess listened to Evelyn. "Thanks, I will give it a go, I don't know about the deboning bit though." "It doesn't really ...
... matter what it looks like, as long as it finishes flat so that it cooks evenly on the inside. When it's cooked just cut it into chunks," Evelyn advised. "Okay, I hope it works out," Tess answered. "I'd better go," Evelyn said as they both heard Henry sound the horn of his four wheel drive, "I don't know what has got him all fired up." Evelyn had a smile on her face as she gave Tess a peck on the cheek. "See you. Good luck, you will be fine with it. Tess got to work, she didn't know what time the guys would be home. It didn't matter, she decided. It was mainly just salad and meat. The potatoes could be warmed latter. She knew she wasn't a cook by any stretch of the imagination. Firstly, she put three potatoes into a pot and put it on the stove to boil. She didn't see any need to stand and watch them boil. She moved on to a salad. Lettuce, cucumber, spring onions and tomatoes. "Easy as," she thought as she turned the stove off. The potatoes were cooked so she drained the water off but left them in the pot. A small tub of yogurt was emptied into a bowl. She could not find a garlic press so she cut it up as finely as she could and mixed it in. Next, she eyed the lamb leg. She hunted through the kitchen drawers and found a long slim knife, it was very sharp and looked like just the thing to attack the next job. She sized up her task and after thinking long and hard made the first cut through the meat to the bone. In ten minutes the bone was out and the meat that was left wasn't pretty ...
