... down to try them on. They didn't really go with the knee length white cotton skirt she was wearing but when she looked in the mirror, she had an immediate reaction. That snarling, whirling a****l deep inside her brain told her she should buy the shoes. She looked to Penny. “I don't know. Maybe?” Penny smirked and nodded her head over Haden's shoulder. Haden turned to look behind her and saw that two men had stopped dead in their tracks and were staring at Haden. They looked away quickly and moved along, but Penny had made her point. “Fine,” Haden grinned, “I'll get them.” When she got home, her shopping bags still in her hand, Andrew was on the couch reading a magazine. He looked pensive. He set the magazine down in a hurry and said, “Can we talk?” “Sure.” She set down her bags by the door and moved over to the couch next to him. “What's wrong hon?” “I wanted to talk about last night.” There was a slight quiver in his voice. “Okay.” Haden was suddenly very nervous. Andrew took a deep breath. “I guess it took awhile to sink in, but when I got up this morning for work, I was really upset about the sex toys.” “Why?” Haden's nervousness increased. “It's not because you had them. You're not supposed to fulfill my every need Andrew. You don't have to be my everything. That isn't a bad thing.” “I'm really sorry, okay?” He threw up his hands in a surrender. “Let's agree that from now on, you stay out of my closet and out of my dresser, okay? I'll do the same for you.” She turned and stomped back to her shopping bags and began to head upstairs. She yelled back at him, “Don't forget that we are supposed to go out with Penny and Bell tomorrow night!” Haden didn't wait for an answer. When she got to their bedroom, she slammed the door and threw her bags on the bed. That's when the tears began to flow. She covered her face in with her hands, not really sure why she was crying. She opened her bag and pulled out the box that contained her new shoes. Haden felt very small and very alone as she curled up on the bed, holding the box of ...
